BACKYARD GOALS

A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HIDDEN LANDSCAPES OF HUNGARIAN FOOTBALL

If we look beyond the sterile world of modern stadiums, the increasingly cold and soulless elite football we should realize that this sport is a great indicator of our everyday life. Especially when we talk about football in the countryside where a match can still be a traditional celebration of local life, a meeting point, something which strengthens identity. Hátsó füves (Backyard Goals) is the collection of a multi-award winning series published in Nemzeti Sport, the traditional Hungarian sports daily paper. Péter Csillag journalist and ten various photographers visited nearly 150 places from 2015 to 2019 to explore Hungarian village football, their travels were illustrated by the stunning but still humane pictures.
